The CESR is equivalent to the Certificate of Completion of Training in the UK and certifies that the recipient is eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register. An applicant for a CESR must provide a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates that their specialist training and/or specialist qualifications, obtained in any country, together with their experience are equivalent to the requirements for the award of a CCT in O&G in the UK. In order to be eligible for this assessment you must have:
Undertaken specialist training or
Been awarded specialist qualifications
Making an application to the GMC can be an extremely lengthy and stressful process. It is very important to read the GMC's guidance and the specialty specific guidance before starting to put together an application. The opportunity to ask case specific questions may prove helpful. It is recommended that every applicant who is able to do so visits the College for a free consultation with Alice Lambert, CESR Co-ordinator alambert@rcog.org.uk. Please could you give her at least a week's notice if you wish to make an appointment.
Please be aware that once the GMC has sent you a letter informing you that your application is complete and has been sent to the RCOG for assessment, the RCOG is not permitted to discuss your case with you until the GMC has sent you a letter informing you of the decision made.
