RCOG and BSCCP guidance for obstetrics and gynaecology trainees who have successfully completed BSCCP accreditation prior to commencing ST year 6 training
Trainees with BSCCP accreditation will be eligible for ATSM recognition through the following process which has been approved by both RCOG and BSCCP:
- Trainees must comply with the ATSM regulations – NTN holder and ST trainee year 6/7 or SpR trainee year 4/5
- Trainees must register with the RCOG for the ATSM
- The ATSM Preceptor will take responsibility for reviewing evidence of clinical skills prior to signing the Notification of Completion of ATSM form. Clinical skills should be assessed:
- Trainees must demonste achievement of competencies in colposcopy through a completed BSCCP log book
- Trainees must undertake an additional 50 indirectly supervised new colposcopy cases during the year that the ATSM application is made, with workplace-based assessment being carried out as necessary and determined by the preceptor who will ensure competence
- Trainees must undertake a colposcopy-related audit
- Trainees must attend a recognised colposcopy meeting within 3 years of registering for the ATS
These criteria mirror the recertification requirements.
