The core curriculum

The core curriculum for obstetric and gynaecology specialty training in the UK is presented on 2 pages, accessible below. Each heading below leads you to a page that lists any documentation needed for the completion of this module. This includes workplace based assessments and logbooks. Alternatively, you can select PDF and go straight to the PDF version of the curriculum module. Any feedback regarding the curriculum can be sent to curriculum@rcog.org.uk and will be gratefully received by the Curriculum Committee of the RCOG.

Curriculum amendments August 2010

All areas of the curriculum are subject to continuous review based on changes in the service and feedback that the College Curriculum Committee receives. In August 2010, some significant changes have been made to the curriculum and these changes have been approved by the GMC Education and Training Division (formerly PMETB). When a trainee joins the specialty, they follow the curriculum which is approved at the time they join. All trainees joining the programme in 2010 will follow the new curriculum modules and the Pocket Logbook has been updated to include the current logbook competences.

It is entirely up to trainees currently on the programme to decide (with their Educational Supervisor) whether they move to the new core curriculum modules. We do actively encourage this as all amendments made to the curriculum are to improve the usability and to include the most up to date competencies required for successful practice in modern day obstetrics and gynaecology. However, this is not mandatory.

OSATS

OSATS specific to modules are available on the appropriate module page. OSATS do not exist for every procedure so click here to access the template so you can agree a list of skills with your supervisor and use the same form to structure progression and assessment for these procedures where OSATS would be useful.
