‘Women and Health: today's evidence, tomorrow's agenda' - the recent report published by the WHO - spells out the calamity of women's health across the globe. Climate Change will certainly exacerbate the current situation, with the most vulnerable population being women and children from the developing world. Health is intrinsically linked to environmental change and now is the time to take action.
The RCOG, RCPCH and RCM are actively committed to upholding the principles of the Climate and Health Council and are organising an event on 12 March 2010 to discuss the impact of Climate Change on maternal and child health in the developed and the developing world. Of the public sector in the UK, the NHS contributes to nearly 25% of carbon emissions; therefore the ways and means of reducing this will also be addressed.
A panel of international speakers from Cape Town, Geneva, Hyderabad and London will discuss the issues via video conference. Please join us on 12th March 2010 at 1.30pm GMT at one of the venues.
