Overview

NICE Guidelines have had a major impact on pregnancy care but Guideline No 110 on Pregnancy and Complex Social Issues is so wide-ranging and covers such diverse groups of vulnerable patients that its implementation has posed major challenges up and down the country.  This complexity and the demands made on services without appropriate resources must result in compromise. The topics covered within this guidance include pregnancy in teenagers and young adults, substance misusers, victims of domestic violence, asylum seekers, refugees and new immigrants.  They fall  precisely within the remit of the British Society for Psychosomatic Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Andrology (BSPOGA) and for this reason we have established this joint meeting with the RCOG.

Why attend?

• To gain knowledge of these clinical areas and appreciate the enormity of the problem.
• To learn the detailed recommendations on the NICE Guideline.
• To become involved in discussions during and after the meeting on how services for the care of such patients can be addressed and take back new information to Trusts, PCTs, community and social services to begin to implement the recommendations to provide maximum care for these vulnerable groups
• To obtain a maximum of 5 CPD Credits for full attendance of this meeting
