Swine Flu in Pregnancy

Seminar for Healthcare Providers

As the controversy surrounding the Swine Flu Pandemic escalated in news headlines across the globe, it became increasingly important that those in the medical profession provide a clear and consistent message to their patients.

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, along with keynote speakers from the Department of Health, arranged a free to attend meeting, available to all Healthcare Providers, offering an update in the various issues facing pregnant women at this time.

Professor Lindsay Davies - National Director of Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and Sir Liam Donaldson – Chief Medical Officer, opened the meeting with an overview on pandemic flu, allowing various other experts to update on more specific aspects of current strategy in the UK.

Public Symposium

Swine Flu and the issues surrounding the current pandemic still dominate the global headlines, in particular the conflicting advice being given to high risk groups including pregnant women.

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, along with keynote speakers from the Department of Health and the Royal College of Midwives, organised this public symposium to provide an update on the current situation, what vaccines and treatments are available (and importantly, any possible side effects) and to calm any concerns at what can be a rather distressing time for pregnant women.

If you are pregnant, or know someone who is expecting a child and is worried about the Swine Flu Pandemic and the recommended treatments, the meeting is available to view, free of charge, as a webcast.
