Overview

Women deserve a medical service which focuses around their needs, is safe and effective and meets their expectations. In addition, the service must be efficient, local and one in which the woman’s informed choice is respected, where practical.

The model proposed by High Quality Women’s Health Care, focuses on the needs of the woman and her baby by providing the right care, at the right time, in the right place, provided by the right person and which enhances the woman’s experience.

Running in parallel to the provision of women’s health networks is the concept of a structured life-course approach to health promotion and disease prevention. All professionals within the National Health Service, including public health, need to come together to think of health promotion as a priority and to develop new integrated roles and training packages for the provision of women’s health care.

The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the “life course” approach to women’s health care and identify some key activities to support its implementation.

Why Attend?

  • Although there is work underway in some areas to integrate gynaecology and sexual health, and link maternity care with early years’ care, there is still a need to integrate services throughout a woman’s life
  • Find out what is currently being done and what needs to be done to make a positive difference to women’s health services

Who Should Attend?

  • Clinicians providing health care for women
  • Commissioners
  • Providers of women’s health services
