The RCOG is committed to ensuring that women’s healthcare is of the highest possible standard across the world. To do this, we ensure that professionals in O&G are able to access lifelong education and training opportunities via a College membership.

Our members

Today, the College has over 17,500 members worldwide. Through the College, this community of women’s healthcare professionals are able to connect and exchange professional advice. Members support each other in training and practice, with peer to peer support on workplace issues, non-clinical concerns and managing interpersonal challenges.

The College’s 8,000 international members are represented through International Representative Committees (IRCs). These are a group of members based in-country who liaise with and support members and trainees in their region.

Categories of membership

Anyone working in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology can benefit from a formal link to the College via one of our membership options. These options are designed to provide different levels of service and support to healthcare professionals depending on their career stage.

To find information on all the ways people join the College, see our guide on membership categories. Otherwise, you can follow the links below to get quick insights on these options:

Fellows and Members

Fully qualified doctors are eligible for membership and, if elected, fellowship (a title which can also be awarded to non-members). The full set of benefits are available to these College members.

Trainees

For doctors training in O&G, our Trainee membership provides access to and support during the three stages of the MRCOG exams.

RCOG Associates

Medical practitioners in the field of women’s healthcare can become an RCOG Associate without needing the MRCOG exam. You will have access to a unique range of benefits and support.

Affiliates

The RCOG offers this membership to anyone working to benefit women’s healthcare without a medical degree. See the full list of affiliate groups and their benefits.

For details of membership fees, payment methods and renewals, please visit our annual subscription payment details pages. These pages are tailored to UK & ROI members and international members.

If you have any problems paying your fees, we’re always available to discuss your options.

We’re responsible for organising the Members’ and Fellows’ admission ceremonies, and are your first point of contact should you have any queries before these special days.

Likewise, if for any reason you wish to cancel your membership, we can work with you to find a solution.

If you’ve been removed from the College register for non-payment of fees, we can also assist you with your reinstatement to the register pending Council’s approval and arrears being settled.
