The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive Mr Ian Wylie.
Ian worked in the NHS and local government before moving to the King’s Fund, where he was director of corporate affairs for six years. From 2001-05 he was Chief Executive of the British Dental Association, and in 2006 became Chief Executive of the TreeHouse Trust. For the past year he has been living and working in Hong Kong, where he is currently responsible for service planning and development for the Hong Kong Hospital Authority. Ian takes up the RCOG Chief Executive post at the end of September.
Mr Wylie said, “The work of RCOG is admired throughout the world and its influence on women’s and maternal health, among the biggest health challenges today, is profound.
“As the new Coalition Government begins to set out its approach to a patient-centred NHS, so the work of RCOG and the other Medical Royal Colleges will become more important in advising politicians and policy-makers, and enabling all those involved in frontline services to improve patient care.
“I look forward enormously to working with the new President and College Officers, staff and the worldwide membership, to further the important goals of RCOG in these challenging and exciting times.”
Dr Anthony Falconer, RCOG President-elect, said “We warmly welcome Ian, who is a very experienced senior manager, to the College. We look forward to working with him at a highly exciting time for the College.”
