The RCOG has published three new Scientific Advisory Committee opinion papers:
Nutrition in Pregnancy, discusses how a healthy pregnancy may depend as much on prepregnancy diet and related body composition as it does to nutrients consumed during the pregnancy.
The Use of Mesh in Gynaecological Surgery examines the growing use of mesh in gynaecological practice in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence and pelvicorgan prolapse. There is anxiety and uncertainty about the long-term outcome of these interventions. This paper highlights these controversies.
Evaluating New Screening Methodologies examines the measures which exist to quantify different aspects of the ability of a screening test to identify high-risk individuals correctly. Understanding the meaning of these measures is essential to understanding the ability of a given test to influence the disease in populations or individuals.
