Reporting Mechanism:
Examination and Assessment Committee
Objectives:
- To advise the Examination and Assessment Committee on current best practice in medical assessment as it applies to College examinations and other College assessments.
- To develop new assessment tools and to maintain the validity, reliability, utility and feasibility of existing assessment instruments.
Functions:
- Providing the Examination and Assessment Committee with professional advice on the latest research and best practice in medical assessment.
- Reviewing all assessments required by all College curricula to ensure that they remain fit for purpose in terms of their validity, reliability, utility and feasibility.
- Ensuring that all College assessments are compliant with PMETB's Guidance “Developing and maintaining an assessment system – a PMETB guide to good practice” and other PMETB regulations.
- Developing new workplace-based assessments, and other assessment tools, as required by the Examination and Assessment Committee.
- Developing academic and research links in the field of assessment with other Royal Colleges, medical schools and other academic institutions.
- Conducting research projects to improve College assessments, as required by the Examination and Assessment Committee.
- Undertaking other matters relating to assessment, as required by the Examination and Assessment Committee.
- Providing the Examination and Assessment Committee with minutes of meetings.
