I thought it timely to keep all CPD enthusiasts aware of TOG's efforts to support this process. From 2011 the completion of CPD assessments from TOG has become compulsory and this has, not surprisingly, resulted in correspondence from members on this change. I thought it worthwhile letting you know how we are responding to common queries.
Firstly we are aiming to maximise the number of articles with CPD questions in each edition. Not all of the articles we commission are suitable for question assessment but we do value the variety within the journal and will continue to aim to maximise content. This means that over the year we feel fairly confident that all registered for the CPD programme will be able to complete their required assessments.
Secondly for the subspecialists out there please be patient with us. TOG has to provide for all the subspecialties and so we cannot pack it all into one edition of the journal but again we hope to provide two subspecialty specific articles for all by the end of the year.
With the queries regarding content and volume we are mindful of the possibility of increasing the periodicity of the journal and we will review this annually.
We are also grateful for the support we have received from the specialist societies and would encourage those subspecialists with CPD queries to engage with their societies as well as with the TOG board as we work together to establish a robust and credible knowledge based assessment tool.
