Dear SAS Doctors,
Some concern has previously been expressed that SAS doctors have been unable to act as Educational Supervisors.
This issue has now been discussed and as you will see in the attached letter, it has been agreed that an SAS doctor can take on this role. Of course, it is essential that he or she has had appropriate training to take on the role of Educational Supervisor for a trainee and that any individual SAS doctor planning to undertake the role should inform the appropriate Head of School prior to starting.
I am very grateful to Mr Kim Hinshaw and his group for reviewing this issue, and for their support of SAS doctors.
