ENTOG was established in 1996 and is closely associated with the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG).The main objectives of ENTOG are to establish continuous means of communication between European trainees with a view to a better understanding of training in our speciality throughout Europe. The ultimate goal is to achieve comparable high standards of training and thus improve the quality of medical care in all European countries.
In order to reach these objectives, ENTOG organises a yearly exchange programme and educational meeting for trainees at which overseas trainees visit hospitals in the host country and then participate in a trainees conference. This is under the jurisdiction of EBCOG, which was founded in 1990, and consists of representatives of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology colleges of Europe. The meeting following the exchange programme gives the opportunity for trainees and trainers to discuss their experiences and make suggestions for improvement.
