Ovulation is a complex process that requires a functioning hypothalamo-pituitary-ovarian axis, responsive target organs and inter-related feedback mechanisms.
Ovulatory dysfunction is a group of disorders with variable clinical presentations, and that occasionally have serious long-term adverse effects. Anovulation, oligo-ovulation and amenorrhoea are ovulatory disorders that account for 30% of female fertility problems.
This tutorial reviews ovulatory dysfunction and its management. It aims to improve your basic knowledge and understanding of the complex endocrinal and physiological changes of ovulation. It will also enhance your ability to assess and appropriately manage the causes of anovulation.
