The RCOG website contains a huge amount of information both for trainees already working within obstetrics and gynaecology [1] and for those who are interested in O&G as a career. Information about examinations, careers and the education and training programme can be found in the links on this page. The RCOG has a Trainees' Committee [2], with members elected from trainees in all regions in the UK and ROI, and which represents trainees' views on College committees and in other groups such as the Academy Trainees Group.
It is mandatory for UK trainees to join the Trainees' Register [3]. This gives you access to the secure trainees pages of the website where you can obtain further information about training including reports from Trainees' Committee meetings, contact details for your local trainees' representative , and access to the trainees' forum [4] as well as other benefits [3].
For trainees who are currently working as SHOs or Foundation Year doctors, and for medical students who are thinking about a career in O&G, there is a separate section to the website [5]in which you can find out about careers in O&G, prizes and awards, and how to apply for free junior affiliateship, with access to your own secure pages of the website. If you know of other junior doctors or medical students who are interested in O&G as a career, please do direct them here [5]where there is advice about careers, applications to ST programmes, awards and prizes, as well as our new junior affiliate scheme.
