We also teach the young women and girls we treat about sex education, contraception and personal health. Women should have access to family planning and we support that - our aim is to promote gender equality and to empower women. This tends to lead to them having fewer children and becoming aware of education. We know many have pursued some form of learning that has led to more earning potential and the ability to provide a better life for the children they do have.
An unexpected and extremely welcomed outcome of our work has been an elevated attitude to women as knowledge had brought understanding and respect and an acceptance of education for girls and women.
