Specialty Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology – Recruitment

Update, 23rd November 2011

Please note that the advert for the 2011/12 O&G recruitment round is now available on the BMJ Careers website. It will also appear in the print version, and on the NHS Jobs website. For all information regarding the national recruitment process please go to the dedicated ObsJobs website.

Please note that the RCOG will not be participating in the Department of Health  coordinated offers system for 2012, and will instead make offers via its own system, as has been the case in previous years.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - RECRUITMENT INTO OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY SPECIALTY TRAINING POSTS IN SCOTLAND

It was hoped that the RCOG-led harmonised recruitment process for 2011/12 would involve England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. However after careful consideration of several important factors (including the fact that the Department of Health is not implementing a fully integrated UK Offers System), the Scottish Selection and Recruitment Delivery Board (SRDB) has taken a decision this week to withdraw from the harmonised process. Recruitment to Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialty training in Scotland will now take place through the Scottish Medical Training (SMT) recruitment process. Further information can be found at http://www.scotmt.scot.nhs.uk/home.aspx.

Scottish Medical Training apologises to all potential applicants for this late decision. The RCOG confirms that recruitment to specialty training posts in England, Northern Ireland and Wales will still proceed through the RCOG-led system.
