Climate Change on Children's Health

The Climate Change on Children's Health lecture is presented by Professor Louis Reynolds.

The climate change lectures were organised by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Children's Health and the Royal College of Midwives. This is the second of three lectures, which were captured in March 2010.

Overview

The effects of climate change are beginning to be felt and will impact on our lives and those of our children and children's children. As clinicians and healthcare professionals, we believe that we have a duty to do as much as we can to lower and curtail the tide of climate change.

The RCOG supports environmental policies to reduce waste and increase energy efficiency in the NHS. The RCOG believes that the commitment to countering climate change can lead to significant improvements in public health. On 12 March 2010 a special international video-conferencing event took place, involving the RCOG, RCPCH, WHO and partners in Cape Town and Hyderabad on the effects of climate change on women and children's health.
