The Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Health Care (FSRH) is an organisation that is separate from but which works closely with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) to set the standards of practice, training and assessment needs of the specialty. Many of the documents referred to in this tutorial are on the (FSRH website).
Fertility control is important to the majority of the population at some point during their lives. Contraceptive methods can benefit both the general and reproductive health of women. The avoidance and management of unplanned pregnancies is a key issue for our society today.
This tutorial will help you to learn more about the range of safe, effective, acceptable family planning technologies and interventions available to both women and men. Particular emphasis is given to UK practice, with consideration of relevant legal and ethical issues; and factors which influence an individual’s choice, for example concurrent disease such as breast cancer.
