Minimal access surgery (MAS) is not a subspecialty per se, but rather provides the tools that can be applied in many areas of gynaecology as an alternative to traditional techniques. As expertise and instrument design improves, so the applications have increased such that almost every area of gynaecological surgery has an MAS alternative.
This tutorial will concentrate on laparoscopic surgery, as hysteroscopic surgery is covered in detail in another tutorial.
