Overview

Between 2005 and 2007, four randomised controlled trials, one comparative study and data from a large US registry will have been published looking at the efficacy, safety, cost effectiveness and durability of uterine fibroid embolisation. However whatever the answers these studies come up with there will still be many questions to answer including who should do it, when is it indicated, its use in infertility, what materials are best and where does it fit in the treatment algorithm. In addition new techniques such as focused ultrasound ablation are rapidly gathering interest. Interventional radiology has also made progress in the prevention and treatment of post partum haemorrhage.

Why View the Webcast?

  • Gives Senior Trainees and Consultants in gynaecology and interventional radiology the opportunity to assess the new evidence available and to decide whether it should change practice.
  • Other areas where interventional radiology is changing practice, such as prevention and management of post partum haemorrhage will also be examined.
