Eating Disorders Awareness Week takes place from Monday 20 February to Sunday 26 February 2012.

A systematic review looking at induced abortion and mental health has been published today. It was developed for the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges by the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health and funded by the Department of Health.

Researchers from the University of Glasgow have tested caffeine levels in espressos bought from High Street coffee shops. Their paper published today in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s journal Food and Function finds that caffeine ranged from 50mg per cup to over 300 mg in different shops.

The Birthplace study, conducted by the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU) at the University of Oxford, examined the impact of intended place of birth on maternal and perinatal outcomes for mothers with no complications in pregnancy.  It compared four birth settings:  birth in hospital obstetric units, free standing (FMU) and alongside (AMU) midwifery units and home birth.
