The Library has a unique collection of books, reports and journals covering women's health from 1478 onwards. Current material is available to browse in the reading room. However, an extensive collection of earlier material, including past editions of major textbooks and complete back runs of core journals is also held.

Historical collections
In addition to the modern collections, the Library also collects historical works on women's health. The collection amounts to over 2000 books dating from the fifteenth century, including 2 incunables, 18 STC and 38 Wing items. Major works such as the obstetric atlases of Smellie and Hunter are held in multiple editions. Other material of interest are runs of clinical reports from maternity hospitals in Britain and Ireland and overseas. As well as antique obstetrical and gynaecological books, the library holds editions of Vesalius' anatomy and literature on Servetus and his discovery of the circulation of the blood. The historical collection is complemented by a range of secondary literature on the history of the specialty.

The Library catalogue can be accessed here. The collection is reference only however, the College provides a document delivery service allowing eligible users to request book chapters and journal articles.
Access
Fellows, Members and Trainees of the College may use the Library collections. Other researchers may also have access by appointment (+44 (0)20 7772 6309 or library@rcog.org.uk). Where possible, please use the catalogue and inform the library in advance of the material to be consulted.
