The Future Role of the Consultant

This Report is one of the most important produced by the College in recent years. It outlines the way the service of the future can be provided and indicates the workforce and training that will be required to achieve this. I find the vision reassuring and the future exciting. I think that we will be better equipped to meet the needs of women's health and to provide services of the highest quality here in the UK and also in countries where the delivery of health care follows similar patterns. I have not known a document so thoroughly and earnestly debated at Council, nor one so widely discussed. I am enormously grateful to Maggie Blott and the Working Party and to Ric Warren, who took forward Council's views and input. This document is now the way forward and will provide the framework for our work on education, training, clinical standards and recruitment.
