Turners syndrome and hypertrophic vagina - query bank

Question: 52 yr old with turners syndrome - not on HRT. Was due to have routine smear and noted to have hypertrophic vagina.

Is turners syndrome associated with vaginal hyperplasia/neoplasia?
Does she require laparoscopy to exclude any streak ovaries ?

Answer: Two case reports of vaginal neoplasms were found in women with gonadal dysgenesis (1,2)
Two national cohort studies of cancer incidence in women with Turner syndrome (3,4) were identified. Only the abstracts of these papers are immediately available to the Library, but neither mention cancer of the vagina. (Evidence level III)
No information was found on investigations indicated in women with Turner syndrome and hypertrophic vagina.
