PROMPT (PRactical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training)
PROMPT is a multi-professional obstetric emergencies training package that aims to reduce preventable harm to mothers and their babies by improving knowledge, clinical skills and team working. It consists of interactive drills and workshops that provide hands-on experience of practical skills and decision making in simulated obstetric emergency situations, such as:
- Maternal sepsis
- Major obstetric haemorrhage
- Uterine inversion
- Vaginal breech birth
- Newborn resuscitation
PROMPT has been developed for use in local maternity units and can be adapted for a variety of local settings.
Each unit receives a ‘Course in a Box’ to facilitate in-house multi-professional obstetric emergencies training. The Course in a Box includes the Course and Trainers’ Manuals and a DVD of algorithms, implementation tools, scenarios and videos.
