College estate

The RCOG has been based at Sussex Place since 1957, when we purchased a long lease from The Crown Estate. Her Majesty the Queen opened our current building in 1960, and the site was enhanced by the development of an Education Centre in 2003.

As part of a review of the future requirements of the College, the Board of Trustees and Council agreed that it would be in the RCOG’s best interest to enter into a joint sale agreement with The Crown Estate, in exchange for sufficient funds to purchase our own property and support our future financial sustainability. In December 2016, we finalised these negotiations and wrote to all our members to inform them of this development.

In December 2017, the RCOG completed the purchase of 10-18 Union Street, London Bridge, which will become our new home in 2019.

10-18 Union Street was previously occupied by the professional services company PwC. It was used as offices until earlier this year and the building is in good condition. However, we will now be working with our architects to create an exciting design to transform the space for our staff, members and all who will use the new College.

Over the coming year we will be updating our members about the potential the building has for our College and for women’s health. Construction of the bespoke layout and alterations will begin in 2018 and the RCOG will continue to be based at Sussex Place until December 2019.

More information will be added to this page as the project progresses.
