Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University College Dublin, Ireland. Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Maternal and Fetal Medicine Specialist, National Maternity Hospital, Dublin.

Professional activities/interests and offices held

  • 2016 RCOG Council Europe representative
  • 2013-present: FIGO maternal nutrition committee member
  • 2010-present: Organiser international RCOG maternal medicine courses
  • Member EBCOG council
  • Published > 200 peer reviewed manuscripts
  • Working in Europe to improve clinical care, and to develop advanced fellowship programmes

Spyros Papaioannou

Qualifications

Medical Degree Greece, 1990; MD (Doctor of Medicine) University of Birmingham, 2003; FRCOG

Present appointment

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Heart of England NHS, Foundation Trust

  • Clinical Director (Theatres)
  • Person responsible (Solihull Fertility Unit)
  • Have published 40 peer-reviewed papers and four textbook chapters
  • Have developed Selective Salpingography service
  • Have presented to international conferences
  • Have practised in another European country (Greece)
  • Keen to promote RCOG European standing
