DRCOG Sub-Committee

Committee remit, membership and meeting dates

Chair

The Committee Chair will be expected to chair all Sub-committee meetings. The Committee produce a blueprinted examination paper twice per year and supervise the production of new examination questions to ensure that the relevant question bank is kept up to date and adequately stocked.

This appointment is for a 3 year term starting in May 2020.

Member / Fellow Representative (2 vacancies)

The Committee must produce a blueprinted examination paper twice per year and supervise the production of new examination questions to ensure that the relevant question bank is kept up to date and adequately stocked.

This appointment is for a 3 year term starting in May 2020.

Writing Task
Applicants must complete a question-writing task, in addition to the application form. This to ensure that we are able to choose dedicated committee members with enthusiasm and the correct skillset to help judge the applicants in a fair and transparent way.

The task is to write 3 SBAs. You can use any element of the syllabus that you are familiar with for this task. Please submit questions in a Word document with your application.

Examination and Assessment Committee

Committee remit, membership and meeting dates

Quality Assurance Lead

The Quality Assurance Lead of the Examination and Assessment Committee is part of the senior clinical leadership team within examinations at the RCOG. The main responsibility include proof-reading the RCOG examinations; advising exam sub-committee chairs on improving question quality and standardisation; chairing Exam Board meetings and developing / implementing QA strategies.

The successful applicant will be required to attend 4 committee meetings per year and all London diets of the Clinical Assessment (Part 3) and examination board meetings. 

This appointment is for a 3 year term starting as soon as possible and by May 2020.

Part 1 MRCOG Sub-Committee

Committee remit, membership and meeting dates

Member / Fellow Representative (8 vacancies)

Committee members will be expected to attend committee meetings regularly, produce new questions, review the performance of the questions following the examinations, be involved in the blueprinting of the examination and be involved in training sessions for themselves or new examiners.

This appointment is for a 3 year term starting in May 2020.

Part 2 MRCOG EMQ Sub-Committee

Committee members will be expected to attend committee meetings regularly, produce new questions, review the performance of the questions following the examinations, be involved in the standard setting processes, be involved in the blueprinting of the examination and be involved in training sessions for candidates or new examiners.

This appointment is for a 3 year term starting in May 2020.

Writing Task
Applicants must complete a question-writing task, in addition to the application form. This to ensure that we are able to choose dedicated committee members with enthusiasm and the correct skillset to help judge the applicants in a fair and transparent way.

The task is to write 1 EMQ with between 8 and 12 options, and between 3 and 4 question stems. You can use any element of the syllabus that you are familiar with for this task. Please submit questions in a Word document with your application.

Part 1 & 2 Standard Setting Sub-Committee

Committee remit, membership and meeting dates

Member / Fellow Representative

Committee members will be expected to attend standard setting meetings immediately following the Part 1 and Part 2 written papers, have a good knowledge of the syllabus for both the Part 1 and Part 2 MRCOG examinations and be conversant with the RCOG curriculum for UK training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

This appointment is for a 3 year term starting in May 2020.

Writing task
Applicants must complete a question-writing task, in addition to the application form. This to ensure that we are able to choose dedicated committee members with enthusiasm and the correct skillset to help judge the applicants in a fair and transparent way.

The task is to provide an Angoff score for each of the questions in Attachment 1, using the table in Attachment 2.

Different methods use Angoff out of 1, 10 or 100. Please use 100 in this exercise, since we are working with percentage of borderline candidates getting it correct, to align with the maxinity.co.uk resource provided.

Part 3 MRCOG Clinical Assessment Sub-Committee

Committee remit, membership and meeting dates

Member / Fellow Representative

Committee members will be expected to attend committee meetings regularly, produce new tasks, review the performance of the tasks following the examinations, be involved in training sessions for new examiners, and attend at least 50% of Part 3 exam diets in London and assist in the running of the exam.

This appointment is for a 3 year term starting in May 2020.

Writing task
Applicants must complete a question-writing task, in addition to the application form. This to ensure that we are able to choose dedicated committee members with enthusiasm and the correct skillset to help judge the applicants in a fair and transparent way.

The task is to write a draft task for the Part 3 MRCOG clinical assessment, using a task template which will be provided. This should be a task on any one of the 14 domains in the MRCOG Part 3 curriculum and should take the form of a Simulated Patient Task that will be examined by a clinical examiner only. You can use any domain that you are familiar with.
