This page sets out the process for election to the Fellowship of the RCOG.
The College writes to all Members approaching 12 years’ standing (the minimum time before election to the Fellowship) inviting them to submit personal details to be considered for election to the Fellowship. Only those applicants who have completed the necessary 12-year period from the month and year of admission to Membership will be considered.
Members resident in the British Isles who are currently in Specialist Registrar or Specialist Trainee positions are not normally considered.
The award of a Fellowship is not merely a reflection of a time interval since passing the Membership exam but also implies continued contribution to the specialty and maintenance of standards and practice. It is a mark of senior status and not recognition of completion of training.
