Professor Bissallah Ekele became Fellow ad eundem at the September 2015 Fellowship ceremony in London, England.
Professor Bissallah Ekele is Professor and Chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Abuja. Professor Ekele has made an enormous contribution to medical education in Nigeria, in areas of curriculum development, post graduate courses and examinations. In particular he has focused on standardising the educational courses and examinations in Nigeria and West Africa to match international standards. Professor Ekele was instrumental in the organisation of the first Part 1 MRCOG course in Nigeria which resulted in a very good pass rate for the centre.
Professor Ekele introduced a postgraduate residency training program at the University of Sokoto, which is in a very difficult terrain with enormous reproductive health challenges. Despite the difficulties he was able to produce 10 O&G consultants who are now in leadership positions in the delivery of reproductive health services in the North West Nigeria.
