An opportunity has arisen for an Archivist to manage the College’s accredited archive collection and that of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM), including collection development, cataloguing, preservation, public access, promotion and responding to enquiries.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the highest possible standards are maintained for the storage of the existing paper-based and growing digital archival records. You will work in partnership with other members of the Research & Information Services team to ensure a joined up information and heritage service is provided to our internal and external customers. There are opportunities to make a real difference to the future of the Colleges Collections by formulating plans for the implementation of a digital repository and exploring funding avenues for digitisation projects. You will ultimately be responsible to maintaining and preserving and ensuring access to invaluable items detailing the Colleges history and that of Women’s Health.
As a successful candidate, you will be educated to degree level with a professional qualification in archives administration or equivalent. You will have proven experience of managing a modern hybrid archive, practical experience of electronic archive systems and sound experience of adhering to current professional archival standards and best-practice. You will have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as a working knowledge of legislation concerning the management of archive services.
