More than a dozen obstetricians, gynaecologists, RCOG staff and their family and friends will jump on their bikes to raise money for Each Baby Counts.
Each Baby Counts is the RCOG’s national quality improvement programme to reduce the number of babies who die or are left severely disabled as a result of events that occur during labour.
Prudential RideLondon 2018
On 29 July 2018, Team RCOG will take on Prudential RideLondon in both the 100- and 46-mile events. This will be the fifth year running that the College has fielded a team. In 2017, the group of 8 riders raised close to £12,000 to support Each Baby Counts.
This year the team's target is £15,000, with some of the funds going towards supporting high quality local improvement programmes in hospitals around the country.
Each Baby Counts
Each year in the UK, over 1000 babies die or are left with severe brain injury – not because they are born too soon or too small, or have a congenital abnormality, but because something goes wrong during labour.
The RCOG does not accept that all of these are unavoidable tragedies. With the Each Baby Counts project, we are committed to reducing this unnecessary suffering and loss of life by 50% by 2020.
