RCOG President Dr Eddie Morris, Vice President for Global Health Ranee Thakar and Chief Executive, Kate Lancaster write to our All India Co-ordinating Committee (AICC) Chairs...
We are writing to you on behalf of ourselves, the Officers and the entire RCOG global community to extend our thoughts, prayers and sincerest of thanks to our colleagues working in India currently under the most trying of circumstances.
From the recent news coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic in India it is clearly having a terrible impact on both the people and the health services of the country, and the second wave is placing extreme pressure on doctors and medical staff across the country. We wanted to reach out to you and the RCOG members to thank you for all you are doing during this challenging time.
It is not just those in the country of whom we are thinking. We have Indian friends and colleagues working alongside us in the UK and across the globe who have not been able to return home for many months and years, who continue to work diligently supporting the RCOG mission of improving the health of women and girls, with the weight of worry of loved ones back home.
At times like this we are reminded that the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is truly a global community with half of our 16,000 members working outside of the UK. To our Indian friends and colleagues, we all support you and we all stand with you.
