Annual Academic Award

We are calling for nominations for the 2020 Annual Academic Award.

The award recognises distinguished service to academic obstetrics and gynaecology.

Nominees are recognised for their outstanding contribution to the academic aspects of our speciality (scientific discovery, pre-clinical and clinical research, academic education and training).

The recipient of the award will be invited to give a keynote lecture at the 2021 Annual Academic Meeting (expenses provided).  The meeting is normally held in February.

 

Award eligibility

  • Outstanding contribution to the academic aspects of our speciality (scientific discovery, pre-clinical and clinical research, academic education and training)
  • UK RCOG Fellows or Members, RCOG Fellows ad eundem or others of equivalent academic distinction (professorial level), at the discretion of the Academic Board. 

 

Award exclusions

Current members of the Academic Board.

 

Nominators eligibility

  • Nominators to be UK Fellows
  • Nominees can self-nominate with the support of 2 UK Fellows

How to nominate

  • Please complete the nomination form (Word document 19kb)
  • Please attach:
    • A 1-page written statement (no more than 300 words), and
    • An abbreviated 3-page CV
  • Please ensure that the nominee is aware of this nomination
  • Please email the nomination form, written statement and abbreviated CV to academic@rcog.org.uk

 

Nomination and selection process

  • Each nomination must have 2 nominators
  • The nominators will be expected to submit a one-page written statement (no more than 300 words) and an abbreviated 3-page CV.  In the case of self-nominations, the nominee would provide a one-page written statement (no more than 300 words) and a 3-page abbreviated CV.
  • There is no limit on how many names can be put forward but all must have a 1-page written statement (no more than 300 words) and a 3-page abbreviated CV to be eligible.
  • Members of the Academic Board to vote by secret ballot.
