Mr David T Y Liu, author of the classic text Labour Ward Manual and pioneer in chorion villus sampling, generously funds this £1000 prize to encourage research and publication in obstetrics and prenatal diagnosis.
The winner is chosen from papers in the field that have been published in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology over the previous 12 months, with the shortlist nominated by the editors. The winning article is chosen by Mr Liu, the BJOG Editor-in-Chief, and a BJOG Deputy Editor-in-Chief, who appraise papers on their validity, the likelihood of the findings being adopted into practice regionally and internationally, whether the paper is explained sufficiently for replication and the quality of outcomes relevant for patients.
The winner and runners up are announced in BJOG.
Please note: we do not accept submissions for this award. The BJOG Editor-in-Chief, a BJOG Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Mr Liu select the winner from papers that have already been published in BJOG.
