The Tim Chard Case History Prize (three prizes: third prize £150, second prize £250, and first prize £500) has been generously endowed by Bart’s and The London School of Medicine to further the contribution of the late Professor Tim Chard in obstetrics and gynaecology.
Eligibility and requirements
This prize is open to medical students from the UK and Republic of Ireland. The successful applicants will show the greatest understanding of a clinical problem in obstetrics and gynaecology by submitting a case history with an intelligent discussion.
A maximum of 2,000 words with 10 references should be submitted. Applications that are over the word limit will be marked down. Please include the name and address of your supervisor.
Your application will be judged on the following criteria:
- General clinical relevance
- Presentation style
- Insight into medical, social and psychological features/implications of the case
- Knowledge of literature
- Quality of discussion
- Level of involvement
The successful applicants are invited to present their submission in a short lecture or a poster presentation at an RCOG event.
