How to book the DRCOG exam

Bookings for DRCOG exams are only open for a certain period of time.

Please check the exam calendar and venues page for opening and closing dates, and booking links when exam applications are open.

Creating an RCOG online account

If you don’t already have an account with the RCOG website, first please register with the RCOG website.

  • When registering with the website, please enter "Dr" under Title.
  • Your name must match the name on your degree certificate. Please enter your first name (given name) and your last name (family name) the same way.
  • Keep a note of your RCOG College Number (6 digits), shown on your "My Account" page.

If you already have an account with the RCOG website, you must use that same account.

Requirements

To take the DRCOG exam, you must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) or the Medical Council of Ireland (MCI).

Before booking the exam, you must ensure your GMC or MCI number is entered in your account under "My Details".

Full requirements for the exam are under DRCOG Regulations.

Completing an Expression of Interest form

Candidates interested in sitting the DRCOG exam must first complete an Expression of Interest form, within the required deadline for each exam - please check the exam calendar and venues page for details on timelines and required deadlines. Please note, your RCOG College number is a required field when completing this form. If you don’t already have an account with the RCOG website, first please register with the RCOG website. You will be provided with a 6 digit RCOG College Number on completion of registration. Only candidates that have submitted an Expression of Interest form within the published deadlines will be provided with an opportunity to book onto the next exam.

Booking a place on the DRCOG Exam

Candidates that have submitted an Expression of Interest form within the required deadline (please visit the exam calendar and venues page for timelines) will be provided with a booking token for an opportunity to book into available spaces once the booking window has opened. Candidates will be provided with the option to either book into the UK or Republic of Ireland during this first stage of the booking process. A booking token does not guarantee a place on the next exam. Candidates that receive a booking token will have an opportunity to book a place on the exam once the booking window has opened.

Book via Pearson VUE

All candidates that have successfully booked a place on the exam, as outlined above, will then be contacted to schedule a place into one of Pearson VUE’s test centres. For further details regarding dates for each exam, please refer to the DRCOG Date and Venues page. Please note that there are 137 Pearson VUE test centres across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

For further information on computer-based testing please visit our New Exams IT System page.
