Eligibility application deadlines

Exam: Monday 20 September 2021

Eligibility deadline: Friday 7 May 2021

Exam: Monday 17 January 2022

Eligibility deadline: Monday 23 August 2021


Resit candidates are already eligible

If you have already taken the Part 1 exam, you are already eligible to sit the exam.

For an opportunity to book a place, please complete the Expression of interest form.


First-time candidates must have eligibility approved

If you have never taken the Part 1 MRCOG exam before, you must submit an eligibility application and have it approved.

You must first have your eligibility application processed and approved, before you can receive a booking token.

If your eligibility has been approved already, you do not need to apply again.

However, it's essential that you use the same RCOG college number to complete the Expression of interest form.

If you are not sure if you have an account, try the reset password process using any email address(es) you may have used to create your account.

If you are sure you have never had an account with the RCOG website, you can create a new account. See more details on How to book the Part 1 exam.

When you have logged in, download and save the Eligibility Assessment application form below, and follow the instructions carefully.

The week before bookings open, candidates who are eligible and have submitted an expression of interest will receive a booking token for the next MRCOG Part 1 exam.

If you have forgotten your login details, please do not create a new College account, or you will not be able to proceed with any exam applications.

Instead, please try to reset your password, or contact us to help you find details about your original account and College account number.


How to submit your eligibility application

Eligibility applications should be emailed with the correct documentation to

  1. Compose a new email with the subject: "Part 1 Eligibility Assessment Application [insert your College number]"

  2. Attach the completed eligibility application form.

  3. Attach your medical degree or registration certificate. This can be:
    1. A scan or photo of your original primary medical degree certificate
    2. A scan or photo of your medical registration certificate, provided it states your primary medical degree and university
    If you are GMC-registered, you do not need to send us your medical degree certificate.

  4. Send your email to


Make sure your application is complete

If your application is missing any details or contains errors, you will not be able to book.

Please ensure you have completed the whole form and attached your medical degree certificate.

If we are unable to verify your degree certificate in the first instance, then we will ask you to email an attested photocopy version instead.

Please do not post us any original documents as we are unable to return them.


Processing time

Please allow up to 4 weeks after the published closing date for your Part 1 Eligibility application to be processed.

If approved, you will be then eligible to book a place on the Part 1 MRCOG exam.

It is not possible for the RCOG to accept late applications.
