MRCOG Part 2: September 2021 exam booking process and application timeline

13 July 2021

Booking process

There are 3 stages to the booking process for the September 2021 exam:

  1. Expression of Interest
  2. Booking a country location (via booking tokens)
  3. Booking a Pearson VUE centre

Full details for deferred candidates and new candidates are below.

Deferred candidates timeline for September 2021

We have a number of candidates who have already paid for and secured exam places over the past 12 months, but unfortunately were unable to sit the exam, due to test centre cancellations and/or reduction in test centre capacities in response to local government restrictions.

  • Candidates who have had their previous booking deferred do not need to submit a new Expression of Interest, or book into a country.
  • Deferred candidates will have first priority in booking into available Pearson VUE test centres, ahead of any new candidate bookings.

Friday 16 July 2021: 2020 deferrals can book a Pearson VUE centre

Candidates who have a deferred placement from 2020 will have first priority. These candidates will be contacted to book into available Pearson VUE test centres on this date.

Monday 19 July 2021: 2021 deferrals can book a Pearson VUE centre

Candidates who have had a deferred placement from either the January 2021 or July 2021 exams will be contacted to book into available Pearson VUE test centres from this date.

New candidates timeline for September 2021

Friday 4 June 2021: Expression of interest deadline

Candidates who wish to have the opportunity to book a place on the September exam were required to complete the Expression of interest form no later than 5pm on Friday 4 June 2021. Please note, we will not be able to consider any candidates that have failed to complete the form by this deadline.

Wednesday 16 June 2021: Booking tokens sent

Candidates who had successfully completed the Expression of interest form, and met the eligibility requirements to sit the Part 2 exam, were sent a booking token for an opportunity to book into available space when the booking window opened.

A booking token does not guarantee a place on the next exam, just an opportunity to book into available spaces. Candidates have the option to book an exam in a country location that is available at the time of booking.

Monday 21 June 2021: Booking window opened

Candidates with a booking token have the opportunity to book into available space for the September exam.

We cannot guarantee there will be space for all candidates that receive a booking token. Spaces are available on a first-come first-served basis once the booking window has opened. This stage of the booking process closes on Wednesday 14 July 2021.

Friday 23 July: Book a Pearson VUE centre

Candidates booked into a country location will be contacted to schedule a slot in one of Pearson VUE’s test centres. Candidates are only permitted to book into a Pearson VUE test centre in the country location they have booked and paid for.
