Training ePortfolio – information for trainers

This page provides information for RCOG trainers to help them use the Training ePortfolio.

You may also find it useful to read the information for trainees about the ePortfolio.

Why use an ePortfolio?

Trainees in O&G use the Training ePortfolio to track their progress through training. The ePortfolio also allows deaneries, schools, College Tutors and Training Programme Directors to keep an eye on progress and monitor their trainees online, even when it’s difficult to find time for face-to-face meetings. Using an online tool enables more practical, portable recording of clinical skill development, and also makes it easy to quickly find information within the curriculum.

Trainees can use the ePortfolio to reflect on their learning experiences and identify future learning needs by communicsting online with their supervisors. Trainers should encourage their trainees to add reflective entries to their training logs and assessments.

How to use the ePortfolio

For detailed helpsheets to assist you with the ePortfolio, please visit the main ePortfolio page.

If you’re a College Tutor, make sure your ePortfolio is configured with the role of College Tutor so you can access the ePortfolios of all trainees in your trust throughout the year – this is particularly useful at appraisal time.
