This page sets out how to progress from one tier to the next in the RCOG’s Faculty Development Framework.

The courses, developmental activities and roles in the progression scheme are examples only, and are intended to help you when considering the skills and experience you need to progress to the next tier. Please also see the full list of RCOG educational roles and their tier rating.

The Academy of Medical Educators domains are listed at the bottom of this page for reference.


Tier 1: Developing an interest in education

RCOG status or role
