Course syllabus for colposcopy ATSM

The colposcopy ATSM course syllabus below lists the minimum requirements for a course to be suitable for the theoretical component of this module. The course should last 2 days.

    • The potential for other molecular markers in screening (30 minutes)
    • HPV vaccines – are they the answer? (30 minutes)
  • Colposcopy – clinical management
    • TOMBOLA: management of mild smear abnormalities – the latest evidence (30 minutes)
    • Advances in treatment of CIN (30 minutes)
    • Follow-up after treatment – current guidelines and new developments (30 minutes)
    • Interactive cases (1 hour)
  • Difficult situations in colposcopy
    • Abnormal smears in the ‘under 25s’, pregnancy and the menopause (30 minutes)
    • HIV – immunosuppression and CIN (30 minutes)
    • Genital infections and the cervix (30 minutes)
  • Cervical cancer: The management of early invasive disease (25 minutes)
  • Quality assurance and the minimum dataset (30 minutes)
  • Colposcopy services – a global perspective (30 minutes)
  • Management of glandular abnormalities  – the evidence (30 minutes)
  • Intraepithelial neoplasia of the lower genital tract – a dermatologist’s perspective (30 minutes)
