ATSM: Advanced laparoscopic surgery for the excision of benign disease

The advanced laparoscopic surgery for the excision of benign disease ATSM will enable you to perform excisional treatment of benign gynaecological conditions using advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques.


This ATSM has a work intensity score of 2.0.

Applying for this ATSM

To be eligible to apply, at the start of the ATSM programme you must:

  • Have an NTN (national training number)
  • Be working as a year 6 ST or year 4 SpR
  • Have at least 12 months’ whole time equivalent training time until CCT
  • Demonstrate a degree of aptitude in laparoscopic surgery

Log of experience

The log of experience is designed to help you monitor your clinical experience and record your training. You don’t need to submit this log to the RCOG, but your School may want to see evidence of your experience. You can develop your own spreadsheet if you prefer.

Keep this log of experience in your Training ePortfolio. Record your training in as much detail as possible, for your own benefit as well as for your ATSM Preceptor and deanery.
