Manual Vacuum Aspiration Workshop for Early Pregnancy Loss and 1st Trimester Surgical Abortion

This workshop will provide an introduction to the technique of manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) for the management of miscarriage and abortion in an outpatient setting using local anaesthesia and analgesia.   Participants will:  

  • Understand the indications, device and procedure details of MVA, and how to manage risks and complications
  • Learn how to perform MVA with hands-on, small-group, tutor assisted training using a papaya model
  • Gain knowledge of effective techniques for pain management during MVA
  • Meet others with experience of setting up similar services
