We are very sorry to tell you that, in light of the current global outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and following the advice of the Omani Ministry of Health, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the RCOG World Congress, which was due to take place in Oman on 25-28 March 2020.

Until earlier this week we had been very much looking forward to welcoming delegates to Oman later this month and were committed to doing everything we could to make the event a success. This preparation included seeking advice from public health authorities in the UK and Oman, as well as the World Health Organization, in relation to the safe running of our event within the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

However, as part of global and local responsibilities for containing the ongoing spread of COVID-19 infection and ensuring the safety of the local community and visitors, the Omani Ministry of Health has now advised against mass gathering activities of more than 500 participants, including medical conferences, and they have requsted that we postpone our Congress. We support this decision to protect the health of everyone attending our event and those women and families who we care for.

We will now focus our efforts on rescheduling the Oman Congress to a later date and will be in touch with you once this is confirmed to see if you would like to transfer your place or arrange a refund. If you have booked accommodation through the Congress Secretariat then we will be in touch separately about this. We are also speaking to Oman Air to see whether they will be able to transfer any bookings made using the Congress discount code.

In the meantime you may wish to contact your travel or insurance provider to establish whether any travel or accommodation you have booked can be reimbursed.  As outlined in our booking conditions, we regret we are unable to refund any delegate travel and/or accommodation costs that have already been incurred, or any administration charges relating to cancellation of travel tickets or accommodation.

It is most unfortunate that these events – which affect us all in some way, and which have happened outside our control – have had such an impact on our Congress, which so many people have worked so hard to pull together.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter, and we hope to welcome you at the rearranged Congress. We will keep you updated as our plans for the rearranged Congress progress, and will also keep these pages updated, but if you have any questions in the meantime please contact
