Joint RCOG/BSGE meeting

The RCOG and BSGE are running two additional hysteroscopy workshop days for delegates who were unable to attend the hands-on sessions run as part of the hysteroscopy course in November 2017. In addition, there are likely to be spaces available for individuals who just wish to enhance their hysteroscopic surgical skills without attending the lecture day.

The workshops cover a range of both diagnostic and operative hysteroscopic surgery. Models and computer-simulated procedures are used covering skills for endometrial polypectomy, global endometrial ablation and hysteroscopic sterilisation.

Please note: The full Diagnostic and Operative Hysteroscopy Course will run in November 2018. Trainees who are undertaking, or wish to undertake, either of the relevant ATSMs will have the opportunity to book on the November course in advance of other delegates.

The workshops consist of:

  • Delegates will attend a diagnostic hysteroscopy and resection station for the duration of 3 hours. The resection is with either the potato session or heart-model session for the development of diagnostic hysteroscopy skills, endometrial ablation and resection using electrosurgical tools. In addition, there will be an assessment of diagnostic hysteroscopy skills and a station for viewing examples and case studies.
  • Rotation around a series of five stations, each of 40 minutes duration, covering skills for endometrial polypectomy, global endometrial ablation and hysteroscopic sterilisation.

Registration for this course includes one day of workshops on either Thursday 14 or Friday 15 June

The workshops run for 4 groups of delegates.

  • Groups A and B start at 8.40am and finishes at 5.10pm on Thursday 14 OR Friday 15 June

Who Should Attend?

  • Gynaecologists, whether Consultants, Staff Grade, Staff Doctors, Trust Doctors or Associate Specialists, wishing to enhance their hysteroscopy skills
  • Trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who are registered, or who plan to register, for the Benign Gynaecology or Hysteroscopy ATSMs. Please note, delegates are highly recommended to attend lectures and one hands on workshop sessions for ATSM purposes
  • Nurse Hysteroscopists who are developing their operative hysteroscopy skills
  • GPs with a special interest in gynaecology who wish to develop their hysteroscopic skills
