Overview

This is a clinical update meeting aimed at all clinicians involved in the management of the subfertile couple and reproductive endocrinology. As well as providing a comprehensive overview of the subject, the speakers have been chosen to provide the latest information in this rapidly developing area.

This course is recognised for the theoretical component of the ‘subfertility and reproductive endocrinology’ ATSM. It’s valid for three years, and must be completed prior to completion of the practical component of the ATSMs.

Assisted Conception Theoretical Course

Overview

Assisted conception continues to face rapid developments clinically and scientifically. The topics and the speakers have been carefully chosen in order to offer the most relevant and evidence-based information. This specialist course complements the joint RCOG/BFS training course on “Subfertility and Reproductive Endocrinology”.

This course will closely follow the guide to learning of the BFS training module on assisted conception and will cover the followings areas:

  • Overview of the workup of female and male partners
  • Management in an assisted conception unit, including the role of the regulator(s)
  • IUI and IVF techniques, laboratory aspects and clinical protocols
  • Limitations and complications of assisted reproductive technology
  • Controversial issues in ART – Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and Screening (PGS) and gametes donation
  • Claim a maximum of 12 CPD points for full attendance at this meeting
