Joint RCOG/BMFMS Meeting

Overviewbmfms

The Fetal Medicine and Advanced Antenatal Care courses are suitable for consultants with an interest in antenatal ultrasound as well as those training in Fetal Medicine as a subspecialty or for the ‘Fetal Medicine’ or the ‘Advanced Antenatal Practice’ Advanced Training Skills Modules (ATSMs). This course is valid for three years, and must be completed prior to completion of the practical component of the ATSM. It also supports the obstetric RCOG intermediate ultrasound modules.

Monday 21 – Tuesday 22 May 2018, Advanced Antenatal Care – a problem-based approach

This course covers the clinical challenges and dilemmas commonly faced in late pregnancy and many of the aspects which make managing high-risk pregnancy challenging. This includes both fetal conditions, such as growth restriction and red cell alloimmunisation and maternal conditions such as obesity, psychiatric illness and substance misuse. The course is designed to cover the curriculum for the Advanced Antenatal Practice RCOG ATSM, but is also ideal for obstetricians wishing to increase their understanding and confidence in managing pregnancies with pre-existing and newly recognised risk factors.

Tuesday 22 - Wednesday 23 May 2018, Fetal Medicine – a problem-based approach

This course offers a comprehensive review of the diagnosis, management and counselling for fetal anomalies and disorders.  The course is designed to cover the curriculum for the RCOG Fetal Medicine ATSM, but will also be of benefit to all involved with antenatal fetal ultrasound. Case-based discussions will be used to review advanced ultrasound techniques and common clinical dilemmas, as well as rare conditions.
